Team around the family (TAF)
1. Overview
Team around the family (TAF) brings the right people together with a family to agree a simple plan. The plan focuses on strengths. It is family-led and keeps the child’s voice at the centre.
Who does what
- Family First Advisor
The trusted practitioner who knows the family best. They coordinate support and make sure actions connect. - TAF coordinator
An ESCC practitioner who helps you set up and run TAFs, link with local services and write clear goals and reviews.
When TAF helps
Use TAF when needs are emerging, more than one service may need to be involved, and coordination will help the family make progress. If there is immediate risk, use safeguarding routes.
This approach aligns with the national Families First Partnership Programme, where the is focus on earlier, coordinated family help.
