Volunteer process
Volunteers are essential to the work we do. We follow a process to ensure we find the right people to join our team.
Before you can volunteer with us:
- You will need to complete a volunteer enquiry form.
- We will then call you to arrange to meet with a member of our team.
- You will need to supply contact details for a reference.
- We will complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
- We will carry out checks on our social care database.
Once we complete the checks we will arrange your induction training. Then you can start volunteering.
We may not be able to proceed with your volunteer application if:
- Your DBS contains cautions, convictions, reprimands or warnings.
- You have received support from Children’s Services in the last six months. If you are new to East Sussex, this will apply to support received while living at your last address.
How we use your data
East Sussex County Council will securely store the data you provide as per our retention schedule. To find out how we use your data, read the privacy notice.
Submitting your details on our online form shows that you read and understood this process for volunteers.
